Woz on Creativity: Work Alone

“Groupthink, the origin of originality, and why most inventors are like artists.”
This article really resonates with me – as I am an artist first and foremost – and struggle constantly with the pressure to join groups and conform or stand on my own and innovate. Using McLuhan’s definition of the artist as being the “attennae of the race” and the one who “wakes people up to the NOW, the present moment” this is a role that requires, at the very least, time to think and play and brainstorm far from the maddening crowds of “groupthink”.
